A Celebration of Horsepower on the 60th Anniversary of The Mustang
– Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m.
This Speaker Series event features Arthur Hyde, Associate Professor of Practice & Automotive
Engineering Program Director at the University of Michigan. Hyde’s 40-year career at Ford
Motor Company spanned Mustang development from 1977 to 1997, earning him the nickname
“Mr. Mustang.” He will discuss the history of the iconic car and answer questions from the
audience. Guests will enjoy seeing classic and contemporary Mustangs parked both inside and
outside the museum. Coffee, juice and breakfast foods will be served including yogurt parfaits,
pastries and fruit. Tickets are $30 per person or $25 for members.
MAY
The Great Race in 2024 | A “T Talk” on Zoom – May, 24 at 3 p.m.
Scott Thams, an avid car collector and museum Trustee, will talk to members about his upcoming participation in The Great Race, a 9-day, 2,400-mile road race against other antique vehicles, June 22 through 30, 2024. Thams and his brother, Kirk Thams, will race a 1929 Model A from Owensboro, Kentucky to Gardiner, Maine, on single lane roads. Thams will talk about the brothers’ prior race in 2018, as well as their strategy and preparations for the 2024 contest, including a chase car to assist with repairs. “T Talks” are one of many free benefits for museum members. Membership levels range from $55 to $100 are available for purchase online at www.fordpiquetteplant.org. Proceeds support museum operations.
JUNE
Motor City Origins Tour – Friday, June 14th at 5:30 p.m.
Enjoy a special, after-hours tour of the Ford Piquette Plant Museum that explores the history of
Detroit’s Milwaukee Junction neighborhood, where The Motor City got its start. This event will
highlight how Ford, Dodge, Cadillac, Studebaker, Anderson Electric and others launched Detroit
as the automotive capital of the world. A social start to the evening includes a complimentary
Happy Half-Hour and crostini bar, followed by a theater presentation and then guided tour of the
museum’s rare collection of antique vehicles made in Milwaukee Junction after the turn of the
20 th century. Tickets are $30 per person or $25 for museum members.

SEPTEMBER
Model T Birthday Party – Sunday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Celebrating the day in 1908 when the first Model T was first produced at the Ford Piquette
Avenue Plant, visitors can enjoy free Model T rides, vintage vehicles on display, live music, food
and beverages for sale, unique vendors, and fun and games for the kids. There is no cost for
outdoor activities or amenities in the Piquette Assembly Room. The line for T rides will form
near the historic front entrance and are first-come, first-serve. Free birthday cake is served at 12
p.m. while supplies last. Admission prices are $10 to $18 for museum entry and guided tours.
